February Reflections

Y'all.
This past month
was FULL of SURPRISES!
Let's backtrack.

I met up with another photographer Saturday, February 2nd, and we swapped headshots! :)

At 11am on Sunday, February 3rd, I saw an ad on Facebook for a Bridal Expo in Maysville later that afternoon. I had never heard of a Bridal Expo before. I called the number on the ad with the same "what's the worst that could happen?" attitude that had landed me the wedding gig at the end of January, and guess what? He said YES!
So I ordered some 1-hour prints from Walmart, packed my fold-up table into my Honda Fit, found my twine, folded up the poles for my backdrop structure, and drove the 30 minutes to Maysville. The Barn was LOVELY, and it was such a fun time. I got to meet other wedding vendors, and they were so welcoming into the "Wedding Vendor Community."

The following Sunday, February 10th, I met up with a couple from Kinston who I got in touch with via Thumbtack. We met up to discuss wedding plans and details, and I ended up shooting engagement photos in Downtown Kinston! I then went over to Olivia's Catering, where they will be married, and met the owner, Susan! We chatted for a while, and I learned all about her business. I'm so impressed! They offer all-inclusive wedding packages--decor, food, venue, flowers, everything except for photography! I made a good connection that day! Since then, Susan has found me two more opportunities! :)

I took on-site pictures for a new business in New Bern, Crema Brew on the 14th!  I'm proud of the images, and it was fun to take pictures of the details of the shop as well as portraits of the owners!

I shot my second wedding as second shooter on the 17th! It was for the sweetest older couple in Jacksonville, NC. The lead photographer for the day, Katey, was kind and helpful. She had a very relaxed attitude about the day, and I would like to develop that same calm presence on wedding days!

I got a call that night after the wedding from a woman named Jessica. She and her sisters were planning a commitment ceremony for their mother to marry her partner the following Saturday (24th) at a beach house in Wilmington, NC. This was the first wedding that I was LEAD shooter for, and I felt it was my best work. Keith was my 2nd shooter, and it I loved sharing the experience with him.

How it is already March?
